Coaching Staff

Bobby Wright
Assistant Coach

AT COLLEGE OF IDAHO: Wright is in his fourth season as an assistant coach for the softball program, working with the Coyotes infield. Spent the 2018 season as an assistant for the Coyote baseball program. Was part of the C of I coaching staff that earned NFCA West Region Coaching Staff of the Year in 2021.

PRIOR TO C OF I: Spent two seasons as the starting shortstop at the College of Southern Idaho before spending his final two collegiate seasons at C of I; played for head coach Shawn Humberger in the Coyote baseball program; posted a 1.46 ERA and hit .264 with 36 runs and 32 RBI in 2016; hit. 274 with 18 runs and 20 RBI in 2017.

PERSONAL: A native of Las Vegas and a 2012 graduate of Durango High in Nevada. Earned his degree in psychology from the College in 2018. 


Curt Thiel
Pitching Coach

Curt Thiel is in his tenth season as an assistant coach for the Coyotes, handling the pitchers. A legend in Treasure Valley fastpitch softball, Thiel began playing competitive softball in 1953 and played for 51 seasons - ending in 2006. The father of six was inducted into the Idaho ASA Hall of Fame in 1991. He also has worked with nearly 300 pitchers in private training, helping more than 35 athletes earn college scholarships - including working with C of I All-America pitchers Katie Zillner, Jody Zillner, and Nickayla Skinner. Outside of softball, he and his wife Jane are the owners of Idaho Tractor - celebrating its 55th anniversary in 2014.
